Post capture papers... anyone have a Luger with them?

I've got 3 Lugers inbound... bought sight unseen, all described as fine to excellent original condition and one comes with vet bring back papers... I was wondering how many out there have Lugers with such pedigree? I paid enough for the set and if they're as nice as described I'll be thrilled.

Hi vicg1,

It is ALWAYS nice to have the "bring back" papers. They offer a degree of linage to the pieces. Also be aware that waffen fabrik amerika has been faking these for about 5 years.

Soooo, be careful!

These pistols are from someone that has owned them for a decade or more and the person is an official in state govt... so, I hope the papers are real! Will post pics Tuesday when I get my grubby paws on them.

Hi Vic..!

I agree with Tom that bring back papers are a terrific addition to any Luger, or bring back weapon/holster. To your question of how many there are - hmmm - that's a great question! I'm guessing in the 1950-1970s, they probably were passed over by many firearms dealers and shooters, as Luger were mostly "shooters" and were rather inexpensive.

Over the past 25+ years, as all Luger variations have become more "collector" firearms then "shooters", the verified papers have become increasingly important and, a bonus. Ergo - the increase in the counterfeit papers over the past few years - to the point, I think you could purchase "blank" forms on e-Bay a while back (someone posted that in these Forums, I believe - or the Colt Collectors Forum?)..???!!!

Anyway - please DO POST PICS!!! It would be GREAT to have a look at your THREE (!!! ) new Lugers!!!

I have one BYF 42 with capture papers. One thing I noticed was that mine also came with a customs declaration form dated about 25 days later than the capture paper. The GI who brought her back brought back the luger (holster along with all the goodies) a captured flashlight, and a binocular case.
