Nice shooter. I hope you can get her to shoot reliably. It must feel good to know you're saving a little piece of history.

Send the original wood grips to Hugh, and have them reworked. He does a great job.Then you have the originals for the gun too!

I've had many re-done by Hugh.

Those are some pretty walnut grips! Aside from being a little over-buffed, your Luger looks really good. I've been toying with the idea of bluing my shooter, and this may have put me over the edge. No buffing and a home job. I'll take pics before and after. And, I want some of those grips!

Now that I've cooled off, I'll probably leave it alone. My Luger wears what remains of the 1920-era rework finish, which appears to me to be rust blue, although the inside of the frame is blued. It has not been vigorously buffed, and really has a nice patina, so I guess I'll leave it alone. What really makes it a shooter is that someone in the past forced-matched some numbers on it, and it has an Erfurt sideplate (it's a DWM).
