Sarco Replacement Grips - Need Help.

I purchased a pair of Coarse checkered walnut grips from Sarco. The right grip fit fine, but the left one is horrible. First, the mag release button cut-out was too small, then the upper portion, that fits under the frame, is too thick and seems to be proportioned incorrectly. Anyone encounter this? I noticed that the grips are made in India. I was going to use these while shooting instead of risking damaging my originals. I am planning on sending them back to Sarco - what are the chances of getting ones that fit from them?

I bought some off of e-bay, very nice looking ones, it took several phone calls with friends (remember Ted, ) before we figured out that the backside was too think and was interfering with the safety and magazine. So the gun might or might not fire and the magazine would fall out! A bit of playing with it, fixed that.

It comes down to that most grips were hand fitted, frames were slightly different by different manufacturers and so my opinion is that the repro guys make them sloppy to hopefully fit most guns.

mm, These are the only type of wood luger grips that Sarco handles. You might request a trade for a set of their brown plastic E.German ones. These generally fit well. Any new repro wood grips that you order, will be oversized when new and require fitting to your particular PO8. Tom H.

I used to get the SARCO grips for sanding down and recheckering. About a year ago the quality declined to the point where I don't bother with them any more. The last time I got any from them, one side fit good and the other side fit terrible. This was an order of 10 pair, & only three pair were usable.

The only repro grips that I will buy are the Nill-Griffe, they are expensive, but they fit.

Thank you all. I believe that Sarco has the East German plastic grips - perhaps they will exchange my wood ones for a pair of DDR Bullseyes.

With a wood file and patience, I am refitting the ones I purchased. I just need them for shooting so that I don't risk breakage with the originals that are numbered to the pistol.

Disappointed with SARCO. Ordered walnut grips for the HSC and got plastic ones! So disgusted, just put them away.

I’ve had ordering problems from Sarco too. Once, I ordered a ring sight for one of my Model 98 rifles, and they sent me a standard post sight instead. How in hell do you screw that up?

Speaking of Luger grips, just got my re-checkered DWM grips back from Hugh!

He did a great job!

My Luger looks three times better now. I put the old CDNN repo grips aside just for shooting. Thanks Hugh!

Grips now fit. It took a little time and elbow grease. To get them to match the general looks of the originals, I did a little "antiquing" (sanded, stained them dark, dark brown, a few nicks and dings, oil and a lot of hand rubbing with true oil). They now look like they are from the 1930s and match the rest of the gun in appearance. Of course, they are bulkier, coarser checkering, and do not reflect the quality German workmanship of the originals, but I won't cry if they chip or crack when I shoot it. If I can get the digital camera from my girlfriend, I'll post some pictures.
