Are these BW grips real?

They are real, but not original. From the pictures they look brown and not black. Looking at the backside they don't match the mold pattern of the originals.

They are dark black, poor lighting and photos make them appear brown. Oh well I thought they might be original, thanks for looking.

Hello Bryon,

I have uploaded pictures of the grips from one of my black widows to my web site. I believe these grips are correct. The color of the grips may appear a little light in color because I used a bright light so that you can see the details.

Byron, Your BW grips look original to me, from what I can see. There were several different paterns (interally) of originals, which lead me to believe that there was more than one subcontractor of these for Mauser and Kreighoff during WW2. Tom H.

Is there anything I can do to tighten the fit of my grips. the right grip panel moves back and forth a little bit when the grip screw is tightened. I think the grip screw was over torqued at some point which caused the contact material where the bottom of the screw head touches the grip to compress so it no longer holds the grip panel tight to the frame. Any fix without modifying the grip?

Byron,

A few months back, a Forum member suggested the use of a small o-ring under the grip screw...

I have tried this on one of my shooters and it works great with no harm done.

Other suggestions were a small piece of shim stock underneath the grip panel. I think it was suggested wood or cardboard shim stock...

I originally suggested the use of a small black polyeurothane "o" rings several months ago. You can find these at any hardware store and you just need to take a grip screw with you and find the right size when buying it. Remember that the "o" ring should go on top of the grip over the screw hole - the bottom of the screw head will be flush against the "o" ring. As you tighten the screw, the ring expands over the grip creating a snug fit.
