Now that I'm all stoked about Lugers, I seem to recall a Guns-n-Ammo article from years ago (perhaps '76?) that profiled a gaudy-looking Luger...cover article even.
(Can a Luger be gaudy?) Silver colored, enbellished pearl grips, pistol very heavily engraved; it was said to be a gift to Hermann Goering from someone (perhaps the factory?). Lots of pics in the magazine; it showed a red-lined case and was very foo-foo all around. Anyone heard about this? |

John,
Yes a Luger can be "God Awful Gaudy" !! And that is one of the Gaudiest" I'm think that you have remembered a very "Gaudy Very expensive Luger", If it is the real thing. There may be several Phony versions of the weapon supposedly presented to Hermann Goering. Try searching this forum using the key words "Hermann" "Goering" IĆ¢??m certain that you will find several comments on that weapon. ViggoG |

Hi Thor,
Where in the Trashcan, did you find that picture? After abusing my eyes once again by looking upon the Grips of that Luger, I have finally discovered why "Hermann" was seen with that awful looking thing every where he went. Its Obvious that he was disgusted with it and Was Trying To "WEAR IT OUT" !!! But I sure would like to have it, So I could sell it to a NOLA Pimp. It would bring a fortune and a Lifetime Free Pass!!! ViggoG |

Yes, it is in Gibson's book. Gibson owns the gun.
