Norme is pretty much on the nose. Gortz & Sturgess say that the original military issue Lugers were sighted point blank between 80 & 110 meters. Those returned for addition of the hold open were also refitted with new front sights that brought zero to 50 meters. That became standard for all Lugers throught the end of production.
