The shield with slash is a mark used by DWM to identify their barrels. You can see it on the barrel between the Portuguese proof mark and the digit 1 in the picture below of a Portuguese Luger. There is also one on my AE Luger but not as easy to see.

AFAIK, only DWM barrels will bear the slashed shield. I also believe that it was used only on commercial and contract Lugers. I've never seen it on a military Luger.
