This is not accurate Richard. Despite what Dr Sturgess has written, 1917 Navies up to serial #1000n/s or so, had the earlier 1.8mm high serial numbers, all subsequent 1917's had the 2.4mm high numbers. The highest known small numbered 1917 is #989, the lowest known with large numbers is #1100.
