Winter's coming up, isn't it

Reason I say that - bought a Winchester from a friend of mine about 10-14 years ago. He said they lived along the Canada / USA border and they had hunting camps in Canada (we are talking 50-80+ yrs ago) and one evening they heard a vehicle coming across the frozen ice. It was a military Jeep (this was middle of WW2) and this grizzled sergeant had a case of M1 Carbines that he was selling for $50 each, sold a couple at their camp and drove down to the next.
