The “slot” on the top leading edge of the left grip is not a “chip” but rather a channel for the mag safety.

This mag safety has the tabs ground off to make it inoperable, most were ground off or removed altogether.
I believe the part was made by Walther and available to police around 1933, the police guys can correct me if I'm wrong about that. Thanks for the interest. |
