The competition target (I assume?) hexagonal barrel on Lugers still makes me cringe a little every time I see them. Not sure why but they just don’t look right, like a revolver grip on a C-96

That said, the grips do look excellent.

the barrei is not hexagonal. It starts out round, with a light flat cut on top, and cuts on each side that result in the "slab" side barrel.
Three more views to give the shape of the barrel.

It doesn't look "normal", but then neither does a really short barrel on a baby. The heavier barrel does help with the reliability of the short 9mm barrel; and allows the .30 cal upper to exchange with the 9mm without a mainspring change.

And for sure, Jim does nice work on grips.
He just re-cut a couple pairs of worn out Colt Woodsman grips for me- they look new!
