While the ones pictured are likely reproductions, there were Red grips shipped on M1929 Swiss Lugers (not the Mauser variety) back in the mid 1930's. There are small details that are "tells" for the repros.
They were originally made from a new plastic called Canvesite, and were remarkable breakable. For that reason, originals are rare and difficult to find or match. I recently spent a few years finding a single replacement to restore one of my Swiss Lugers from 1938 that had them.
