I still feel the slotted rod is for the M23. The one you show is totally different than the one in question. I have a brass rod like yours . To me it has always been a repro?? It is also marked SA. Do you have any reference on the brass one? I wish someone would do a book on cleaning rods. Bill

Bill,
Finland refurbished there equipment for reliable service. They made equipment modifications that were simple and cost effective. The cleaning rod that started this thread could be of a later time period than the two that I posted. I understand the the longer one I posted was also used for the Finnish sub machine gun. The posted brass looped handle cleaning rod can be seen in a Finnish holster in "Borchardt & Luger" on page 1224. In the "Land of Borchardt" the Finnish Luger m23 system rig displays the brass looped cleaning rod in numerous places. You are correct a narrative regarding Luger cleaning rods would be helpful.
