G.T. Interesting story.
Too bad that this person is not with us anymore to provide more details about where the vacation house was located. Anyhow, the interesting aspect is that Paul Mauser mentioned a sword that was passed to him by his father Andreas Mauser that worked in the Royal Arms Factory in Oberndorf as a gunsmith and was mainly involved in the sword production. Paul had a sword signed by his father, and the one you mentioned in your story could be this one. Impossible to verify without the sword today, but this is what I can say about this history.
