Eric, this P.08 started life as an LP.08. Its 4" bbl. is a post-WWI modification that Artilleries sometimes underwent.

I'm sorry David, that's just not so. Most Erfurt P08's from 1916 to the end of production in 1918 had notched receivers. The exceptions with uncut receivers are somewhat uncommon.

My two heros. I purchased the gun from George~ I'll look for his narrative! Maybe George could help up the narrative. I will get fresh pictures! I luv them and each of you!1917 DWM. It came with a matching 169th Baden board! http://www.pals.org.uk/ir169_e1.htm

Hi Eric,
I'm not really comfortable being called a hero by another man. George is another story, he at least looks the part!

Far be it for me to dispute Norme, but isn't the 4" Luger in the photo a DWM? If I'm wrong I'm blaming my aging eyes...

Hi David,
You’re correct, it does appear to be a DWM. My apologies to both Davids.

Yes, I know. Even the big versions of the pics are fuzzy, and the toggle appears to have DWM on it, not a Crown Erfurt. Nor can I see any of the proofs an Erfurt would have on the side plate, etc. What did I miss, gents?

(edit) Oops, I see. Vindication was already at hand... I did triple check before commenting. I have a DWM that was similarly converted, the only difference being it has the 1920 property stamp!

Eric's 4" Pistol was converted from an LP08 for Police use. The sear safety can be clearly seen.
