I have found that silver sharpie works well for me.

I like it because it’s very easy to apply and seems to stay put pretty well but can still be removed by any mild solvent.

There are a variety of white (and other colors) paint pens at Hobby Lobby. Take your pick and highlight those hard to see stamps and letters.
