It is a production item, I've forgotten the mfg, the local shop uses them. They are expensive when bought, but very easy to bend one or more yourself from steel rod. I use the stuff that is available on the road side when it is "election" season, the steel that they use to hold up the signs is just about right.

Just use a dip in some "grip covering plastic" to protect the part that goes in the barrel.

You can make them any size, height, or angle to alter the way they display. I make the base a little wider, as it does have a tendency to tip with a heavy/long pistol.
