BELATED RANGE REPORT

Finally took the Steyr-Roth out today!

I attempted to make a stripper clip by tweaking an AR15/M16 one but it was a failure. Loading the magazine without a stripper clip was difficult, but possible. At the third magazine I succeed in slicing a finger open with the lug on the bottom of the bolt as it shot forward.

Twenty rounds fired of the Fiocchi ammo in total. The first magazine had a stovepipe, but otherwise functioned fine. The second magazine was a disaster: one stovepipe and repeated failure to go into battery.

Is the ammo too weak to cycle the bolt properly? Do I need new springs (if they even exist)?

Putting the personal injury incident aside, as well as the failures following the first magazine, here is my opinion of the pistol:

Love the historical aspect as well as Nerf-gun styling.
Feels better in the hand than it looks.
Recoil is very mild even with the high bore axis. Weight is probably a factor. I shot the pistol immediately after a T-14 Nambu, and the felt recoil wasnt much more.
Accuracy was quite good, even though the trigger has an extremely long pull that breaks almost without warning. Certainly better than say, a Nagant revolver.
Without a stripper clip, this is basically a single shot gun.

Given a choice between a luger, a C96, and the M1907... the luger comes in first, C96 second, and M1907 distant third. I think I would rather carry a Reichsrevolver.

By the way, my tikka barrelled finnish luger went to the range today. 50 rounds, no failures of any kind.
