Should be in my drool-covered hands on Monday. Got the price down to $1675 and comes with a holster and spare barrel. Both barrels are supposedly mint condition. https://goo.gl/photos/WbfMofsznkcKya5L8 Cant seem to get the insert picture deal to work from google anymore. Can you guys see it via that link? |

![]() I will most definitely shoot it. I cant bear to have something and not try it! I sold off my Vickers luger because the fear of shooting it and breaking something was greater than I could bear. The only unfired thing I own is one of the test CZ pistols that were meant for the army modular handgun trials, but its a plastic gun and doesn't give me that unwrapped Christmas present under the tree feeling (plus I have a regular one exactly like it anyway). My little WWI herd is growing! https://goo.gl/photos/RGVTVEoAvbGfsMs77 |

Well done!
Just so you know, those holsters are expensive so you got a great bonus right there. I saw one sell on eBay just a couple of weeks ago, I believe it ended up at $300+ and it was not even in original condition (modified for belt carry, IIRC). I have seen people asking outrageous amounts (like $700-$800) for good holsters, probably very optimistic but a sign of the rarity. Now you just need the stripper clips, they are pretty affordable... http://www.gunauction.com/buy/8777189

Please don't forget to report back about your shooting experience. You are still missing a 1911 in your herd.

The link works. I can see it. Looks great in the photo, with holster and extra barrel! Sounds like you got a darned good deal. Looking forward to more photos when you get it.

If you can find a 7.65 Roth-Sauer, expect to pay at least 5 times (and 10 times wouldn't surprise me) what the Roth Steyr would bring.

BELATED RANGE REPORT
Finally took the Steyr-Roth out today! I attempted to make a stripper clip by tweaking an AR15/M16 one but it was a failure. Loading the magazine without a stripper clip was difficult, but possible. At the third magazine I succeed in slicing a finger open with the lug on the bottom of the bolt as it shot forward. Twenty rounds fired of the Fiocchi ammo in total. The first magazine had a stovepipe, but otherwise functioned fine. The second magazine was a disaster: one stovepipe and repeated failure to go into battery. Is the ammo too weak to cycle the bolt properly? Do I need new springs (if they even exist)? Putting the personal injury incident aside, as well as the failures following the first magazine, here is my opinion of the pistol: Love the historical aspect as well as Nerf-gun styling. Feels better in the hand than it looks. Recoil is very mild even with the high bore axis. Weight is probably a factor. I shot the pistol immediately after a T-14 Nambu, and the felt recoil wasnt much more. Accuracy was quite good, even though the trigger has an extremely long pull that breaks almost without warning. Certainly better than say, a Nagant revolver. Without a stripper clip, this is basically a single shot gun. Given a choice between a luger, a C96, and the M1907... the luger comes in first, C96 second, and M1907 distant third. I think I would rather carry a Reichsrevolver. By the way, my tikka barrelled finnish luger went to the range today. 50 rounds, no failures of any kind. |

My futile attempt at a stripper clip:
http://forum.lugerforum.com/attachme...1&d=1486935038 The spare barrel that came with the gun is definitely not for 8mm Steyr. 32acp comes close, but does not fully seat the round. I have no idea what is the correct chambering for it. Quality is top notch, I would not be surprised if it was an original factory production item rather than aftermarket: http://forum.lugerforum.com/attachme...1&d=1486935038 |
