My first Luger

Your 1937 Mauser Luger was made early in the year before some major transitions. There were several changes that year, including switching from Rust Bluing to Salt Bluing; Eliminating the strawed (golden colored) parts and adding additional milling at the rear of the frame, leaving a "hump".

You have an early and desirable gun from that year. There were not so many made with the old features in 1937.

Consider not shooting this one if it's all matching. It looks collectible and in original condition. It's possible your "creepy visitor" was really advising you not to shoot a collectible Luger.

Your original but non-matching magazine was from a later Mauser (1939 - 1940 or thereabouts).
