I have a Navy numbered 4509. The sight is not dated. Can you tell me the year of production?

Not from just the serial number.
You need to post pictures of all markings and of the pistol, just start a new thread with pictures and your question.

Does your gun have a lower case letter below the serial number? Does it have a grip safety?

No letter code. Just the 4 digit number. From reading Jan Still's Imperial Lugers, it seems like a 06 Navy, but I'm not sure, As for pictures, I haven't mastered that yet. Give me time and I'll see what I can do.

Hi Joe,
I think you're right, you have a relatively early 1906 Navy made in 1907. As has been said, we can't tell more without photos although it would be interesting to know if your gun has a unit mark stamped on the rear grip strap.

If it's the art of photography you don't master, I can relate to that.
