In these last twenty years or so I've ben doing more or less the same! Sometimes I change a bit "the procedure" using WD40 just to clean it and lube all my guns with BALLISTOL (always), a tiny bit of TETRA grease (you know the saying: " if it slides grease it, it it rotates oil it".
And at the end I finish it off wiping the outside of the gun with some silicone cloth or with some Teflon FIN SUPER oil.
Admittedly I'm a bit paranoid as for instance to prevent to scratch the inside of the barrels I clean them with a brass rod and with a chinese chopstick...
