I do not know if lighting was an issue when taking those photos but I will try to get some better pictures under different lighting. The arty and navy look nothing close to the Mauser as far as bluing or rust treatment. I do see halos very clearly on all three pieces. Spoke with my father who believes the navy and arty to be untampered as he put it. I appreciate everybody's input and dispute nothing. I am willing to be schooled and enjoy the chase. Thanks fellas

would it be correct that the suffix of the frame barrel extension on the byf 42 is the sm letter L or is it possibly another letter? Most of what I have found on the subject of suffixes seem to depict a small loop in the shape of the L and I'm not seeing that here.
