Now, if it was the bringback paper that your father/granddad brought back with the Luger you inherited, then it would be like his wife [your mother/grandmother] and their marriage certificate. You would display it proudly - it's your family!!!

Someone else's bringback paper is someone else's family. Why would you care about a marriage certificate from some guy you never heard of??? Or his wife's picture??? Makes no sense.
