Jon, No..holsters were issued in clothing depots..not to date but to type. A Luger holster is a Luger holster. Only collectors care about matching dates.

I was gonna reply that your mystery tool sounded like an M1 Garand chamber brush, but someone obviously beat me to it.

For what its worth, it probably came with your Luger because the chamber tool is for 30 cal which is close enough to 9mm that the tool would probably work to clean the chamber.

My apologies to your long time friend. My comments were based upon what we were told. Knowing the guy for 30 years and trying to get the pistol for most of that time does change the picture a tad. That's a great price incidentally unless the pistol is a total rust bucket, which it isn't or you wouldn't be interested in it in the first place.

I wouldn't be worried about it being "hot" if you know where its been for the last 30 years and you know the guy you are buying from, but if you are really concerned, I'll do the honorable thing because my comments were part of the problem here and give you $600 for it sight unseen. How's that for a deal to make things right? $50 profit and no worries about ownership.

(I'm kidding you, of course. Sounds like you have a great new Luger. Enjoy

$550? With a holster and loading tool? Sounds like you're the one stealing it!

No offense taken, Desperado. I am grateful to have all the input.

Good one one the "generous" offer. Im thinking it is worth in the area of $1,000 to $1,200 but only based on my brief cruising on the Forum. Going to work on some pics next week when I get this vision thing sorted out. They are now saying I have macular problems which is all I need with two previous retinal tears.

Also appreciate the info on holsters and the M1 tool. My brother-in-law is a Vietnam vet and used to shoot competitively with military rifles at Camp Perry, etc. with Garands, M1A's, AR's, the whole deal. When I asked him what it was he said "I have a home for it".

It was with the Luger in the holster. Hoping some Nazi didn't take it off a GI in Europe. I'll bet it was being used with the weapon as a chamber brush.

Thanks again.
