I've never seen or heard of a modern quality firearm, firing modern noncorrosive ammo, that:
1. Was worn out from too much cleaning
2. Suffered damage because it was rarely cleaned.

Therefore firearms should be cleaned every time they are used, or not. Both Don and Zormpas have nailed it.
