I'd call it from the notch to the front edge, i.e. the rounded part or front of the mag body section. What I'd call a spine is on the side, and varies depending on how much it is rolled over. Don

Yes! I know all those machinist terms!...
 .. "From the top of the rounded thingy on the pointy end, to the top of the mostly square hole part further down on the rounded thingy" ...... ... communication is always the key!...
