The clip I remember had another, much younger guy--definitely not Werle--and I think his was a Nazi era gun. I think danger is minimized if one is doing this on purpose, but it sure is a setup for "He was cleaning his gun and it went off."

Not all Lugers, only 1906 and after. Early Lugers had a flat
extractor, but I'm sure you know that.

The P38 pistol also has a loaded chamber indicator, and also the Walther PP and PPK (in center fire calibers).

And there are some others.
