Several years ago, Simpsons Ltd had a C96 w/bent barrel/barrel extension for sale. I posted about it here; the barrel was indeed bent. I emailed them and was told they accepted offers; Alvin, you even suggested I submit a lower offer than their posted price. They declined; I emailed them a couple more times over the next 9 - 12 months, no deal. Polite but firm. Finally, it no longer appeared on their site.

I was not terribly concerned about a bent barrel; as long as the receiver wasn't damaged, I could salvage it.
