When I was in, this endurance/speed test had to be done once a year. With full compliment. i.e. the air group aboard. 24 hours test.
I've been on board for two of these. The USS Kearsarge, then CVS-33 a WW2 carrier, and the USS Independence CVA-62. The whole ship is shaking and straining. If anything is going to let go, this is the time. sorry I don't recall the speeds recorded. FN |
