Actually, I've measured the sight radius of both a P-08 and a LP-08 and found them very close.

My 1916 DWM LP-08 is accurate, but I really have to work on the handloading combinations to get it there. My byf 41 P-08 is incredibly accurate (out to 100 yards) and it's easy to load for.

My reading, including the original DWM booklet for the LP-08, shows it being used as a substitute rife for Machine Gun crews. This would make common sense, as they have plenty of weight and bulk to carry already.
