Default Howls of "Fraud!" on Mosin Board

I followed a promotional link from Gunboards.com to a thread on the Mosin Collector's Board on a recent faked Mosin. To say those guys were pissed, is an understatement...it went on for 4 pages.

What I found distressing is the sheer number of "reproduction" inspector's stamps available from Poland and other sources on Ebay.
Handfuls of them ! If Dirt Bags find it profitable to fake Mosins, it really makes me wonder about things like Luger magazines.

I've seen the occasional post - "Watch out for .....", but are there any organized attempts to "out" these fraudsters?

NO

The stamps are well known to many collectors, there are posts here.

There are postings of first hand accounts of folks buying things that are messed up. First hand accounts, otherwise it leads to all kinds o f sticky - 'I heard' and as a board and board moderator we don't want to go there.

Among private conversations, folks will name names.

Don't expect it here (although it happens)..... Not covering up anything, its just a sticky, difficult thing to deal with.

I would think there would be actionable/legal issues too...

If there was a "Bad Guys" list, then someone would want a "Good Guys" list as well...And some bad guys would scream that they were getting falsely accused, and some good guys would complain that they weren't included on the good list...

It's a big can of worms...People will get annoyed, angry, start making vile posts, and get banned...

There's enough of that on all the boards I visit, I think...

...$.02...
