No connection to auction.

Comments?
Thanks to Robert for the link! I was not around when this auction went down - I would like to know, did the chamber date spell out the entire year ["1943"] or just "43" like the late Mauser Lugers???

Sheepherder (Richard) didn't state Mauser Lugers were dated 1943 or 43. He wanted to know if Krieghoff dated the same way as late Mausers with 2 digit dates.

The short answer is Yes; HK used a two digit date. In mid-1936, for a short time, HK used 36 as the year designator between their use of S and their use of 1936.

BUT...1937, 1938, 1940, 1941, 1942, 1943 and 1944 and some 1945 production all used four digit dates.

HK and Mauser followed different marking protocols on the P.08. FYI, in addition to date differences, HK used their corporate logo on their P.08s rather than the manufacturer's code they were assigned and which they used on their machine guns.
