Does all this extra weight affect function? Seems a similar situation to the Carbine, when considering the overall weight of the upper, which is effectively increased by these attachments. IIRC, the early Carbines had a spring inside the fore-stock to help return the upper to battery, and they were supposed to use special ammo. I don't think the commercial Carbines from the 20s had that feature or requirement...?
