All in all I don't think the price is that high, obviously it depends also on how much ruined is the bore. Just to give you a rough comparison the Artilley Luger in the picture below is for sale here in Italy at the price of about USD 4500.00 it's in very good condition BUT it was rechambered 9x21 IMI which means that in the States probably wouldn't have any value.
