George Anderson Lifer Lifetime Forum Patron Join Date: Jul 2002 Location: VA Posts: 3,592 Thanks: 1,773 Thanked 2,531 Times in 788 Posts	The Bavarian 8th Infantry Regiment was garrisoned in Metz which is a fortress city in Alsace. Deggendorf is in Niederbayern or lower Bavaria. I believe the closest garrison town was Passau, home of the 16th Bavarian Infantry Regiment.
