"Call me "difficult" if you want, but to me the 45ACP can only be fully enjoyed it in a gooooood traditional, classic, 1911 without frills."

The S&W Mod 25, and 625 are some outstanding revolvers. A shooting buddy has a 625 with a 6in bbl. and a 2X scope. That thing will consistently shoot one ragged hole at 25 yards.
You can never go wrong with purchasing a good quality 2nd generation Colt SAA. If that is what you want, then settle for no less. I wouldn't consider selling my early Colt SAAs. |

Hugh
Yes Hugh more or less like that. You've got a beautiful commercial 1911, I suppose it's one of the first "government 1911" made by Colt. In my life I had two of them, one was imported many years before through West Germany and still had a WG stamp on it, the other one was nothing special either, so in the end I sold both of them. At the moment I still have two 1911 A1 (one Colt and one Remington Rand), the Colt is quite nice while the RR is an "arsenal rebuild" so isn't really a collectible and being included in the "collection" I'm not even allowed to take it to the range but I like it as I think it represents a page of history and it probably has been a good war-horse maybe even after the WWII. I bought a used second generation .357 SAA in the early 1970s for $236.00 following a Luger for $100.00. If I was going was going to sell either I believe I would make some money. If you want a Colt, get it, life is to short. Keep in mind that the .45 SAA will not handle the heavier loads like some of the Rugers. I have other single actions for cowboy action but the Colt is still my favorite.

... I must add that a single action revolver is on my (longish) "wish list" now.
Unfortunately I'm not only a Luger "fanatic", but also a 1911 one, and since sometimes I like to to some muzzle loadig shooting I'm also considering buying another Pedersoli reproduction, I've already got and use an old Pedersoli "Le Page" but last week I saw a brand new one... temptations temptations ... ;-)

I acquired a .45LC stainless steel 4.75" Uberti El Patron a few years ago. Amazing pistol, extremely smooth action with a feather light trigger pull. Check out one of these, you will not be disappointed. MR
