I could be mistaken, but it looks as if the finger adjuster [the spiral] has a quick-disconnect lever...To run the jaws open without using the spiral...I don't think any Yankee Crescent-style wrench has this...has anyone else seen anything like this???

I think that lever may lock the spiral so the adjustment size of the wrench jaw doesn't move... also an excellent idea... and no, i have not ever seen a wrench like that before, but I have seen other Mauser tools.
