Lee,

Welcome to the club and to the forum.

IMO there is no such thing as a "garden variety Luger" (well, maybe a 1920s 7.65 commercial). Imperial Army Lugers are quite unique and collectable, having almost every part numbered. A nice 1917 is a real treasure to keep.
