Where stocks issued with bare, untreated wood?
Where they finished AFTER the leather trappings were added?, (which seems to be the case, if the finish was factory applied).
Is the finish we see on them today from the original manufacturer or the work of the various owners throughout the years?
Has anybody ever seen a completely pristine, unissued rig that they comment on?
Hi Doug, Luger stocks were finished prior to the attachment of the leather. I have an un-issued Navy stock, with pilot holes drilled for the leather attachment screws. It's finished all over.
