Here's an example of what else is out there. http://www.ebay.com/itm/261232810259...84.m1439.l2649 Not bragging, but I just won these. As with yours, they need a bit of work to be presentable; but they were very economical for a set of original grips, and their blemishes can be readily addressed. The Swiss style is the same as the '06, so these should fit. But last year I discovered that there might be a small difference in grips which would fit an old model, long frame, and the shorter, new model frame. Has anyone else encountered this?

Those Thai grips on eBay http://www.ebay.com/itm/GERMAN-WEHRM...item4173dec3a1 have always looked weird to me. I just figured out why--the front lines of the grips should be straight, from the top front corners down to where the frame swells at the bottom, but these are concave, giving the grips a rather vase-shaped outline...

I have purchased a couple of pairs of aftermarket Luger grips, and had to do some fitting work on them. The pair from Sarco took quite a lot of work, but turned out nice. It wasn't hard to do, just time consuming. I usually refinish many of the grips that I purchase,.....I guess that makes me hard to please.

Default Refinishing Grips

After doing what I should have done first! I found several threads on the subject. The one that I thought most informative was dated 3/6/13 by Ben M.

On the grips(not just for Luger) that I want a glossy finish on, I use Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil, and for those that I want more of a satin finish, I use Formsby's Tung Oil finish. I usually do not use wood stains on the grips that I refinish. Occasionally, I will use boiled linseed oil for the refinish.
