question for Rick, Rich, Hugh and others that have twisted on a barrel or two...

Hi Guys, I've learned a lot in the past few weeks, but can always learn more from the, "Been there, done that!" bunch.. I know all you guys have been at the same spot in the learning curve as I am at now.. My question is?? Have any of you pursued, or thought of pursuing, taps and dies for the receiver threads and barrel shank?? Also, would cleaning (with taps & dies) the threads affect timing to some degree??........
