No real differences to the best of my knowledge. P08 is a model designation for Lugers since 1908, but was only stamped onto the guns toward the end, maybe 1940, 41 and 42. The S-42 is just one of Mauser manufacturer's code, like BYF. About all the WW2 Lugers had a code on the toggle instead of the word "Mauser".
