I was of course kidding about the name inside the holster - it was researched on this board in 2006 ( or maybe on the Still Luger board, I used to visit both,) and the member who had access to German army records found that there was indeed an officer with that name in that exact unit, who apparently also had a son in WWII. I think the name gives the holster a fine provenance, and more value as an authentic piece of history.
Those photos were taken back in 2005, right before I cleaned off the verdigris, so that stuff is no longer on the holster, 'been clean for the last 7 years. Last edited by Alx; 01-13-2013 at 05:40 AM. |
