IIRC these shipping containers were of WW2 vintage, but were recycled from WW2 ammunition or hand grenade shipping containers.

I wouldn't mind owning one, though. Nice WW2 / Russian Capture / End of Cold War story in one box.

The ones I have are metal?? I also have a wooden one as pictured, and as Gerben said, it is a converted ammo crate.. I'll get some pics to John.. probably tomorrow.. best to all, til...lat'r...GT
