i wouldn't change the top at all - you are welcome to send it to me for $50 plus shipping

I think its part of its history and have three P38 holsters that have been 'modified' by the GI's

Heh, no I think I'll hang on to it for a bit but I'll let you know.

Unfortunately this wasn't modified by the GI who brought it back although the rig was in possession of the former owner, who added his initials, at least since the late 40's or early 50's.
