A good start would be any of the Jan Stills books. Imperial Luger, Weimar Lugers, Third Reich Lugers.
Depends on the years you're interested in.

Default book

Years ago I purchased a book, I think it was "World of Lugars". When we moved from the God Forsaken state of New Jersey to Florida it dissapeared. I think my wife sold it at one of the many yard sales that we had.

You could start with John Walter's book "The Luger Story".

Abe Books online can help you locate a used copy at a reasonable price.

Most of the collector books are specialized to specific eras.

Soon, Goertz and Sturgess' comprehensive study will be available from Simpson Ltd.

Lots of books that are not very good, so don't just buy luger books.

ALSO, check the stickies at the new collectors area, several stickies of this same question and you can read what others have suggested before

Hi Bill, as Mark (mrerick) pointed out, if you can wait untill September a new set of books is due out that you may want to consider, it will be available at Simpson Ltd (www.simpsonltd.com) titled "The Borchardt & Luger Automatic Pistols" by Joachim Gortz & Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. It is a three volumn set, 1,992 pages, that includes 2 CD's and a slip cover with free shipping. I believe the price is $275.00 if paid early and goes up $50.00? if ordered later, I don't know the date.
