That sounds like a gun that some cop acquired thru a turn-in or confiscation.
Most departments require that they turn such items in [so the dept. cannot be criticized] Often, they forget (?)to turn them into the dept... or, as also happens, someone will just give a cop a gun as they don't want it, themselves. Such items are also know as a 'throw down' gun. You could always get rid of the frame and replace it with one that is properly numbered from Heller or Raum? Then, it would be legal. |
