Gertrude and Heathcliffe! I definitely enjoyed Red's show. Rod Serling, from whom I took a couple of classes at Ithaca College just prior to his ill-fated bypass surgery, told a story about Red, who apparently was a little twisted in his everyday sense of humor. He'd set up a film projector to display on a large garage wall on his property. The wall was straight-on in view, just before a right angle bend in the adjoining road. Red allegedly would wait for a passing auto to be in just the right spot and flip on the projector. Then he'd watch to see if the porno film projected would cause the car's driver to run the vehicle off the road!

Otherwise, I spent my days in Mrs. Muldoon's fifth grade classroom. She's the one who killed a little milk snake I'd brought in, in a ventilated jar. Without asking, she'd put the critter's jar on the windowsill in direct light, thinking this a kindness to the animal. Unable to regulate its body temp, the little guy was cooked by dismissal time.

This may also have been in the era when reproduction Lugers were advertised on the backs of comic books...That's when I fell in love with the P.08. I believe I also had my Johnny Reb Cannon then. The balls all were lost, over time, but I found it would do just fine with billiard balls I drilled out to fit the guide tube in the center of the "bore". It lasted until about 1999, when it was destroyed by ice falling from the eaves.
