Lots of guys with bringbacks took them to their gunsmith to figure out why they had this or that problem and eventually ended up with a pretty frankenstein luger. Replacing parts was part of the work that was done--they are honest in calling it a bringback but it has been changed more than they realize by attempts to repair and pretty-up a war worn gun.
